The Arbogast Inn, an enchanting Victorian Queen Anne style Bed and Breakfast circa 1902, is conveniently located on West Main Street in downtown Monterey, Virginia. We are within walking distance of quaint shops, restaurants, and interesting historical sights.
Relax in your choice of three spacious guest rooms, each uniquely furnished and ranging from the elegant to the whimsical. Choose from one of two king rooms (one has an adjoining private bath with shower & the other room has a private hall bath with clawfoot tub), or a room featuring two twin beds with adjoined private bath.
Breakfast
Start off the day with a delicious meal featuring a special daily entree, seasonal fruit, freshly baked muffins, and maple granola cereal in the dining room each morning.
We proudly serve Highland County maple syrup along with locally made preserves and homemade maple butter. Our Inn also offers a variety of drinks such as hot tea, lemonade,
orange juice, apple juice, tomato juice, soy milk or freshly brewed coffee. We take pleasure in preparing meals to accommodate a variety of dietary needs.
After breakfast, head out for a day of exploring downtown Monterey, partake in one of many outdoor activities, or relax on our wraparound porch. Pick out a rocking chair and take in the spectacular mountain scenery. Treat yourself to the quiet beauty of Highland County and plan your next getaway with the Arbogast Inn. Open year-round.

Policies
- The inn is designed with adults in mind. Pets or children under the age of 12 cannot be accommodated. We are a tobacco and firearms free establishment.
- A cancellation made within 10 days will incur a 1 night room charge. If the room is re-rented, the 1 night charge will be refunded less a $25 cancellation fee.
- Two night minimum on special event weekends and all weekends in October.
Local Attractions
Mountain hiking and biking, bird watching, golf, swimming, caving, skiing & snowboarding, shopping in the towns historic district, Civil War battlefields and other scenic and outdoor pursuits are all within a short distance of the inn. We are 35 miles from The Homestead Resort, 5 to 10 minutes from the border of West Virginia, 40 miles from Snowshoe Ski Resort, and an hour away from Seneca Rocks, WV.
