Welcome
The Arbogast Inn, an enchanting Victorian Queen Anne style Bed and Breakfast circa 1902, is conveniently located on West Main Street in downtown Monterey, Virginia. We are within walking distance of quaint shops, restaurants, and interesting historical sights.
Relax in your choice of three spacious guest rooms, each uniquely furnished and ranging from the elegant to the whimsical. Choose from one of two king rooms (one has an adjoining private bath with shower & the other room has a private hall bath with clawfoot tub), or a room featuring two twin beds with adjoined private bath.
Breakfast
We take pleasure in preparing meals to accommodate a variety of dietary needs including diabetic, vegetarian, or vegan. Enjoy a delicious meal featuring a special daily entree, made-to-order Belgium waffles, seasonal fruit, fresh-baked breads and muffins, assorted yogurt, and maple granola cereal in the dining room each morning. We proudly serve Highland County maple syrup along with locally made preserves and our own homemade maple butter. Our Inn also offers a variety of drinks such as hot tea, lavender lemonade, orange juice, apple juice, tomato juice, whole milk, soy milk, or freshly brewed Dean & Deluca coffee.
After breakfast, head out for a day of exploring downtown Monterey, partake in one of many outdoor activities, or relax on our wraparound porch. The inn is designed with adults in mind. Children under 12 cannot be accommodated. We are a tobacco & firearms free establishment. Family cat in residence.

Mountain hiking and biking, trout fishing, caving, golf, horseback riding, bird watching, swimming, hunting, skiing & snowboarding, shopping in the towns historic district, Civil War battlefields and other scenic and outdoor pursuits are all within a short distance of the inn. We are 35 miles from The Homestead, 15 minutes from the border of West Virginia and only 40 miles from Snowshoe Ski Resort.
